The "Cloudman," Dr. John A. Day, was a professor emeritus from Linfield College, in Oregon, USA, who taught meteorology for over forty years and who had a great passion for sharing the wonder of clouds. Into his nineties, he continued to write, teach, and inspire people of all ages, around the world. His photography and writings are found in international publications and museums, and are used by artists, musicians, teachers, and many other cloud lovers. Through the pages of this website, he shares with you just a small part of his enthusiasm and his life.

On June 21, 2008, Cloudman peacefully passed away at his home in McMinnville, Oregon. He was 95 years old and working on his latest book, "Peterson Field Guide to Weather."

He was much beloved by family, friends, and people around the world, some who never knew him personally. A memorial service was held at Linfield College on June 29th, 2008 with over 300 people attending. He will be greatly missed, but remembered by many as they "Look UP and SEE."
